After his collaboration with the German saxophonist Samson Benji, the USA producer, instrumentalist and singer Stephen Moore aka Stefanosis is back with some fresh vibrations. This time he collaborates with Soulfyah Productions from Germany on four riddims.

His new release is entitled Dubplate Situation and includes 5 tracks: four vocal tracks on riddims composed by Soulfyah Productions voiced by Stefanosis in a dublate style, plus a very special melodica cut.

Spanish self-taught producer RootsyBeats has been playing keyboard in many local and international reggae bands since 1980, sharing the stage with artists like Macka B, Mad Professor, Alpha Blondy, I Roy, Skarra Mucci just to name a few. Recently and with the rise of the internet and the ease that it offers to meet new people, he started to collaborate with artists from all over the world, composing and producing his own music.

Spiritual Calling, is a beautiful mix of relaxing sounds produced by RootsyBeats who with these fresh sounds mixes his track with the beautiful melodies from the Colombian artist Dub Idren, already known to Dubophonic fans through his works Roots Strong and Mystical Valley with UK producer I-niverse, giving it a very tropical and sunny touch, calling for union and peace internal. This is our new call, a spiritual call!

New tune coming from the Land of the Rising Sun. The Osaka reggae singer Sister Maki, known through her collaboration with Dub Cmd in 2020 with Way To Zion (Pt. I & II), Swe in 2021 with Prayers and Shanti-K also in 2021 with Revolution, returns with a new tune.

This time she comes with her own band from her homeland Japan, which was founded in 2012, bringing a deeper meditation to the Kobe and Osaka Music scene. It includes Goja Bongos on the percussion and as special guest Aki Mittoo on the melodica, who continues to make wonderful music through her newly founded label Muffin Records.

Stefanosis, the Los Angeles based multi-instrumentalist/producer, who has been crafting his musical art for over two decades, returns with a new single entitled Kali Yuga and presented in two versions: the original vocal composition and the obligatory dub version.

It is a stepper style reggae song with apocalyptic theme lyrics. Kali Yuga is a concept in Hinduism that says we're now in the fourth cycle/age of existence, which is the most difficult one. It is the age of darkness and despair among humanity and across the entire Earth, when chaos, confusion, and hypocrisy reigns. The unmistakable sound of Stefanosis is also in this release present, were roots reggae fuses with eastern melodies and philosophies!

Based on a new roots reggae riddim written by Med Dred, Flying Melodicas is a playful musical reasoning with the two melodica players complementing each other in a fun and soulful way!

The outernational dub duo of Dub Idren and I-niverse return in 2022 with a new single. After Roots Strong, which was released in December 2021, the Colombian melodica virtuoso Dub Idren collaborates one more time with UK reggae dub producer I-niverse. The result is a musical journey to the Mystical Valley.

Dub Idren: Reggae artist located in Colombia. This project was born in 2019, with the aim of merging Caribbean reggae with sounds from his land, to give an experience full of delight and rhythm for extremely fine ears, manifesting through deep melodies a unique sensation, which will make you connect with your inner self in a mental and spiritual way, with a powerful energy that transmits the message of unity.

I-niverse: Selector and roots, reggae dub producer spreading the message of peace, love & unification through the works. I-niverse’s sound takes you on an uplifting spiritual journey, driven by pulsating weighty bass lines and majestic melodies that send positive vibrations to the heart and help one to experience states of inner peace. IRoadie, born in The Netherlands in 1968, embraced the reggae scene at a very young age. The first lick on his guitar was Marley`s “Redemption song” at 11 years old. He spent his youth on stage and in rehearsal playing with many bands throughout the years, with rhythm guitar and roots reggae as his main focus. Working with multitrack recorders made him an independent producer and qualified broadcast studio engineer while the digital revolution enabled him a worldwide audience.

After years of manufacturing percussion instruments, studio work became his core business. Many artists visited his studio dubbing tracks. Cd productions followed in the styles of traditional Wassolon Mali music, Ska, Rock Steady and Roots Reggae. As time passed, he enjoyed many live performances and tours as guitarist and percussionist.

Fast forward to the present, iRoadie supports art students in audio visual technics, while he keeps the fire alive with a stream of new Roots Dub productions and playing guitar in a Rock-Steady band. iRoadie never gets weary and a new challenge starts for him in 2021, through a collaboration with Dubophonic Records. His debut EP on the label is entitled “Dub Time”. It consists of three dubs, the first one being based on the classic Cuss Cuss riddim featuring Stefanosis on the melodica. Strictly positive vibes!

This album - Brass Echo Chamber - was originally released in the early 2000's through the now defunct Springline Records label. Sadly, the online release never took off and did not received the popularity it deserved. Like a fading star, it was eventually taken offline and forgotten in the vaults.

The man behind the instruments was Stefanosis from Los Angeles, known as Steve Steppa back then. The concept was quite simple: create an album influenced by the 1970's reggae-dub era with a saxophone as the lead instrument. The man behind the brass was the German born saxophonist Ras Samson aka Samson Benji, who was given the dubplates and added his horns like the “icing” on a “well baked cake”.

The original, low-fi production was recorded using a vintage analog synth, drum-machine and electric bass and guitars masterfully played by Stefanosis. After saxophone parts were recorded long distance in Europe, Gibsy Rhodes from Corsica, the man behind Springline Records, put the whole package together with some added effects, samples and rough mastering.

Fast forward in year 2020, the original files were discovered years later on a disc. Admiring the whole concept and the irie hooks of Samson's soulful saxophone. Stefanosis took the files and boosted some audio levels, utilizing modern technology. The songs have been re-mastered and allowed to shine brighter this time. Twenty years after the original release, the Brass Echo Chamber lives again, polished and resonating pure, reggae dubplate vibes.

Dubophonic has turned toward Cyprus this time and to the local artists, introducing one of the most active Cypriot artists in the reggae scene. Producer & riddim maker Med Dred has always been into music, addicted from the young age of 7, a good 20+ years ago! He is one of those artists, who are passionate with their music. Studied in the United Kingdom City & Guilds (Sound Engineer), the Cypriot artist then went off to further his studies with a Bachelor’s Degree in Texas and a Master’s Degree in the UK at the Trinity Southern University. He has been refining his sound ever since.

On his debut release on Dubophonic netlabel, Med Dred introduces a style that is deeply rooted in the history of reggae music. Inspired by the old dub masters and sound engineers of Jamaica, Med Dred manages to assimilate their sound and transform it into something new, either by incorporating his own custom made effects, improvising on the melodica or using his voice snippets to send out his anti-Babylon messages.

The "Dred Reggae” EP includes six tracks, dubbed and remixed by Med Dred exclusive for the Dubophonic netlabel. Heavy one drops, deep echoes and reverbs, heart pounding bass lines and conscious lyrics are the ingredients of his musical recipe. Accompanied by many guests, Med Dred creates his own personal sound, still remaining true to the original roots of reggae music.

Special participation of Ted Sirota (drums) on “Jahnoy”, Felix Dub Caravan (bass) on “Jahnoy” and “Dub-o-phonic words”, Christopher Pound and Tian (bass) on “Bal Ed Dred” and Peter Attah (vocals) on “Attah Dred”.
