Air Songs” was written, performed, and recorded Winter-Spring 2022, in Minneapolis, MN 

Hiram plays flutes made from Walnut, Cedar and Rosewood, with synthesizer, electric piano, bass guitar, pocket sax, voice, shruti box, electronic processing and natural sound from the surrounding environments. 


Track 3, “From Above” recorded live outdoors on the cliffside overlooking Hidden Falls Park. 

Track 5, “Trillium” features field recordings from Blue Mound State Park. 

Track 6, “Talia” recorded live outdoors at the base of the waterfall at Hidden Falls Park.

Immersion

"Immersion" is a long form original sound work composed over the Summer of 2022, to be premiered as   a live outdoor performance of new eco-music and environmental sound.  

The work is the culmination of a collaboration through the Art for Water initiative, with the artist working towards certification as a MN Water Steward to act as a creative voice in public conservation outreach. The focus behind the music is to help promote the development of personal connections to water and the natural environment by creating a shared public sound-art experience outdoors in a beautiful, natural space. 

With this new site-specific piece, Hiram uses field recordings and underwater sounds collected from the Wood Lake Nature Center and the Minnehaha Watershed area to form the foundation of the work, using wooden flutes, brass bowls, and woodwind acoustic instruments in combination with analog synthesis, natural sound, magnetic tape, and electronic processing, telling the timeless story of waters’ path, from liquid to vapor and from the skies to our homes. 

The music was performed on location in real-time, created to resonate in harmony with the spaces surrounding us. Portions of the work include field recordings made with submergible hydro-phone microphones, using the actual waters of Wood Lake itself to help create the music. 

This is a live recording of the public event that took place on the morning of Saturday, August 13th 2022, released in sync with the 2022 MN Confluence of Stewards event.

Water Rise

An offering of ethereal evaporation music from environmental sound artist Hiram, bearing new works in morphing formation. Several pieces document the artist in live outdoor solo actions over the Summer of 2021, with sessions documented both in the midday shade of the Mississippi River's shore in Minnesota, and under the nighttime desert skies of New Mexico. 

The track "Wind Song" is built upon the grace of nature's breath, with field recordings from Joshua Tree, CA blending with the melody of a 15 string zither. Hiram's use of horns, flutes and reeds through the work breathes an air of life, with electric piano, voice, chimes, tongue drum, shruti, tanpura, synthesizer and tapes mixing with the sounds of the environment, connecting self to space in a new form of harmonic resonance.

The Crystalline Core 

Music for meditation and movement. "The Crystalline Core" is the second offering from HIRAM, a long-form composition for wooden bass flute, electronic processing and magnetic tape. 

This work brings the consideration of the ancient tectonic workings of the inner Earth in parallel to our own emotional human experience, acting as a tool to facilitate the release of internal pressures from within.
